Overcoming Loneliness

Loneliness is a feeling in which the individual experiences a strong sense of emptiness, worthlessness, unwanted and solitude. Loneliness is not the same as being alone. Being alone can be experienced as positive, pleasurable, and emotionally refreshing if it is under the individual's control. Solitude is the state of being alone and secluded from other people, and often implies having made a conscious choice to be alone. Feelings of loneliness can be described as the absence of identification, understanding or compassion and are experienced even in crowded places. It may also be described as
a yearning for love or companionship, which is unfulfilled, but cannot seemingly be achieved, or may stem from the lack of love in one's life, and hence may lead to emotions such as rejection, despair and low self-esteem.

Someone who is lonely may find it hard to form strong interpersonal relationships. In fact, a person experiencing the feelings of loneliness may be unable to stop the feeling lonely and behave in ways that maintain isolation; shunning invitations, spending hours on the internet or watching television and sometimes turning to self-destructive behavior such as drugs, alcohol, excessive eating, etc. The rejection of others is essentially rooted in a deep seated fear of rejection causing the person to reject first. This behavior can cause others to respond in kind, confirming the feelings of worthlessness. It becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy of sorts.

Hypnotherapy helps you to remove negative reactions to events of the past that have compounded into the present resulting in the deep seated emotions of loneliness, allowing you to move forward into a brighter future as a more confident and connected individual.
